Medicai, a Romanian MedTech startup, plans to expand internationally through a partnership with Microsoft, with the United States as its first target and Western Europe next in line.

The Medicai platform allows doctors to create online archives containing their patients’ imaging investigations. When several physicians—either from the same specialty or complementary specialties—need to collaborate on diagnosing and treating a case, they can grant colleagues simple and secure access to these archives.

“We have managed to build strong expertise in a short amount of time, which means we already have many implementations in key areas such as triage, diagnosis, monitoring, case management, second opinions, and medical tourism. At this stage, we need a partner who can help us take on larger projects. The potential for innovation is much greater when we interconnect entire regions and build virtual corridors for complex or chronic conditions. With a cloud infrastructure like Microsoft Azure, we can now do this and scale according to the immediate needs of hospitals or medical clinics,” said Mircea Popa, CEO of Medicai.
